Annex Departures and Releases

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office describes the Travis Street Jail Annex as male-only overflow. Someone no longer housed there may have moved back to the Main Jail for processing. Another person may have been transferred to TDCJ, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody. Only a documented community discharge should be called a release to the community.

Bond, time served, sentence satisfaction, and a court-authorized discharge can end county confinement. Dismissal of one charge does not free a person who has another charge or hold. Transfer closes the Annex housing episode but starts or continues custody elsewhere. Ask staff for the date, time, authority, and destination instead of relying on the absence of a name.

Confirm Annex Release Status

Use the official Harrison County Jailing Search for the booking. It is not a promised archive of past releases, and the county publishes no retention period or exact refresh interval. Search by exact name and spelling variants. Capture the booking number, charges, cause number, bond information, and any status shown.

1. Call the Annex to check present housing.
2. Call the Main Jail for the county processing transaction.
3. Ask whether the destination was community, another jail, TDCJ, federal custody, or ICE.
4. Use the court cause number to identify the legal event.
5. Request the jail card and release sheet if the online result is incomplete.

The broader named-person route appears on the Harrison County release search. The important distinction is current housing versus a completed release transaction. A portal failure or absent result does not prove that anyone is free.

Annex Contact and Records

The Annex can answer a present-housing question. The Main Jail is the stronger contact for release processing, while Transport & Warrants can clarify onward movement. For a lasting record, use the Sheriff's open-records procedure. The form lacks a special release checkbox, so name the exact record and fields wanted.

Request the booking number, release date and time, release authority or type, destination or receiving agency, holds, and booking photograph when relevant. The Sheriff's form states $0.10 per page and, for work over one hour, $15 per hour plus 20 percent overhead. It says requests are reviewed and processed within ten days. Those published terms remain subject to the request and lawful redactions.

Travis Street Annex History

The Annex opened in 2011 as Phase I and added 200 beds. The county describes a maximum jail-system capacity of 350 after that addition. Later 200-bed phases are only potential plans. They must not be counted as operating space. The facility's history shows why Harrison County has two physical jail addresses but one county custody system.

The official Sheriff jail page supports the male-overflow role and contact details. It does not publish an Annex release schedule, property procedure, pickup point, family waiting area, or exit door. Families should call before travel. A planned pickup should not assume that the person will physically leave from the Annex.

From Annex Housing to Main Jail Processing

The most important Annex-specific question is whether the person merely stopped being housed at East Travis Street. The county identifies the Annex as male overflow and the Main Jail as intake and processing. That division means a man can leave the Annex, return to the Main Jail, and remain in Harrison County custody. The change can precede bond processing, a court discharge, county transport, or transfer to another agency.

Begin with the Annex at (903) 923-4008 for present housing. If the person has left, call the Main Jail at (903) 923-4003 for the system transaction. Ask staff to distinguish internal movement, community release, and onward transfer. Transport & Warrants at (903) 923-4002 is the county route when the record points to transport. These roles are distinct, so an Annex answer that someone is “not here” is only the first step.

No official source establishes a public Annex release hour, exit point, property process, or pickup area. That gap should remain explicit. Call before arranging travel, especially when a court event or bond entry has occurred but the Sheriff has not confirmed completion. The existing release transaction is the durable answer when phone statements or portal displays conflict.

Annex Release Record Trail

A good confirmation uses three records. The Sheriff transaction establishes when county custody ended and where the person went. The criminal docket or judgment explains bond, dismissal, sentence, jail credit, or commitment. A receiving system confirms what happened next. These sources answer different questions and should not be treated as substitutes.

Adult felony files are handled by the Harrison County District Clerk. Class A and B misdemeanor records run through the County Clerk and County Court at Law. A bond posting or signed order can explain authority, yet neither alone proves the physical exit time. A precise Sheriff timestamp is stronger for that issue.

Federal Custody at the Annex

County minutes approved July 1, 2025 reported 33 U.S. Marshals contract prisoners during a recent period. The source does not assign each prisoner to a specific jail building, so it cannot support a claim that those people were all at the Annex. It does prove that federal prisoners can be housed within Harrison County's jail system.

A contract prisoner remains in the federal chain. Leaving the Annex may mean a move to the Main Jail, federal court, another contract jail, BOP, ICE, or an authorized release. BOP's locator is strongest for people who enter BOP custody. “Not in BOP custody” is not the same as free. A federal docket and the U.S. Marshals path may be needed for a pretrial detainee.

Annex Transfer Search Routes

Use TDCJ only after the Sheriff reports a state-prison transfer. The TDCJ detail can show location, offenses, projected release information, and parole-review data, but it does not cover a county defendant who bonded out. Intake can take time to appear. For an older discharged prisoner, TDCJ's information and public-record channels may be needed.

Use ICE's locator only for possible immigration custody and BOP for the federal prison system. Another county's jail should be contacted when a warrant transfer is reported. Texas IVSS-Counties can provide custody-change notice, but it is not the official release transaction. Each negative result is limited to the system searched and identifiers entered.

The guidance supports a transfer check only when immigration custody is actually reported; it does not turn an Annex departure into an ICE case.

The Main Jail can direct a caller to Transport & Warrants when the county record shows an onward move. That role matters because an Annex resident can physically leave East Travis Street while the legal custody chain continues. Ask for the receiving agency's full name, effective transfer date, and any booking or cause number that helps match the next record.

Exact times matter near weekends, holidays, and court events. A bond payment, dismissal entry, or signed judgment can occur before jail staff finish checks. Other charges, warrants, detainers, identity checks, property processing, and transport can affect the next step. Harrison County publishes no standard Annex release hour, so no portal or court timestamp should become a promised pickup time.

When a true community release is confirmed, preserve the Sheriff's release transaction and matching court disposition. The first proves the county custody event. The second explains its legal basis. If supervision follows, verify it with the proper office. Parole follows state imprisonment, while probation is court ordered and may apply without any TDCJ term.
